How to Read a Supplement Label
The most honest document a supplement brand produces isn't its website — it's the label. Here's how to read one like a professional.
1. The ingredient list
Every ingredient should be named individually. Watch for "proprietary blend" — a legal way to list a total weight without revealing what's actually inside. DEWORVA names all six botanicals: chili pepper, garlic powder, oregano, flaxseed, fennel and black pepper.
2. The claims
Supplement claims sound like "supports digestive health" or "supports gut wellness." Drug claims sound like "cures," "treats" or "prevents." A supplement making drug claims is either mislabeled or misleading you.
3. The net weight
DEWORVA comes in a 1.3 lb (590 g) bag. Net weight should be printed clearly — vague "economy size" language without a number is a bad sign.
4. The manufacturer story
Who actually makes it? An honest brand tells you plainly and points you to its Quality page — where it says what it documents, and what it doesn't.
5. What's missing
Sometimes the most informative part of a label is what isn't there: no drug claims, no hidden blends, no miracle promises. Absence of hype is a feature.
