FDA Facility Registration vs. FDA Approval

You'll see "FDA" on a lot of supplement marketing. Here's the distinction that matters: facility registration is not approval. They are different things, and honest brands say so.

What facility registration is

Under U.S. law, facilities that manufacture food must register with the FDA. Registration means the facility told the FDA it exists and what it does — it is a legal requirement, not a quality award.

What the registration itself says

FDA facility registration documents state plainly that registration "does not denote anything other than that they have provided certain information to FDA" — and that the FDA "does not issue a certificate of registration, nor does the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recognize a certificate of registration."

What approval would mean

FDA approval is a separate, rigorous process for drugs — involving clinical evidence and formal agency review. Dietary supplements and their facilities are not FDA approved, and any supplement brand claiming otherwise is misleading you.
